Sharada Navaratri of 2020 has been celebrated with lots of religious and spiritual programming for the entire community. Due to the rising of the pandemic, all programs were offered via zoom, enabling devotees all across the country to participate. Special programming commenced with the chanting of Durga Saptashati (Devi Mahatmyam) by our community volunteer. The chanting was done over three days. Participants were able to join and listen or chant along. Our volunteer shared lots of insights while chanting which was welcomed by the attendees, which has led to the birth of another program, Devi Mahatmyam In Depth Exposition, which will begin after Deepavali celebrations.
We had Lalita Sahasranama Parayanam on Saptami led by Dr. Sudha Raj, who had shared her Golu, a typical way of celebrating Navaratri in southern states of India. On Ashtami, the Varshney family performed Devi Havan . On Navami, Saraswati Puja was performed by the Ramarao family under Pt. Abhay Padhi’s direction. On Dasami, Navavarana Pooja was performed by the Khurana family led by our community volunteer. Several participants performed the puja along with the yajamana of the ceremony. It was all in all, quite festive, and very well liked by the community members, especially during these life altering circumstances.
