Jnana Mandir program was initiated in ICRCC premises as of Sept 2019, in collaboration with Arsha Vidya Gurukulam (AVG) in Pennsylvania. The vision and mission is to promote spirituality and philosophy and devotion in the community. We strive to preserve Indian cultural heritage and celebrate our festivals.
Programs are conducted on the weekend afternoon/evenings for children and adults. We have resumed our normal programming in addition to a variety of virtual series. Most of our in-person special events are available in virtual platform as well. See the events section for timing and details.
Children program includes modified yoga under Rachna Zirath, Ramayan classes under Srilata Kurup and Hindi classes under Rajiv Mangla and Srilata Kurup.
Adult programs currently includes Hanuman Chalisa twice weekly and Bhagavatam discourses weekly. The latter is offered LIVE by Brhm. Surya Naryanaji from AVG. See the events section for timing and details. To view past recordings, visit resources page.
Several weeks of Pooja Vidhi course has just been completed by Patanjali Parimi (Thank you Patanjali!). Multiple community members have participated and helped and contributed heavily in running this program.
Jnana Mandir has continued to serve the community throughout the COVID time period and have resumed services in-person as well as continuing virtual seva. Several series of pravachans have been completed. Currently, Mundaka Upanishad, and Bhagavatam are ongoing weekly.
We have a dedicated team of teachers volunteering their time and effort selflessly to promote this cause. Thank you!
See below the comments from our teachers:
Rachna Zirath: The purpose of Purna Vidya children program is to help participants understand our glorious culture & inculcate divine qualities. Children are taught yoga, breathing exercises, prayers and meditation. They are also learning the teachings of the vedic knowledge, Ramayana, Mahabharat and the Bhagavad Gita. This will help physical, mental and spiritual well being of future generations along with encouraging and nurturing children’s own inherent talents. This will make them strong on handling emotions, provide them direction on ethics, encourage and motivate them for prayer and further understand our philosophy.
Srilatha Kurup: Being part of the Jnana Mandir team has been a very enriching experience for me. I volunteered to help, as I felt passionately in educating the young generation of American-Indians, growing up so far from their Mother country and getting not much exposure to the rich and ancient traditions of Bharat, the oldest surviving civilization of the world. I am very proud of our cultural heritage and I was happy to be able to play a small role to help the youngsters here to imbibe the same feeling of pride.
Rajiv Mangla: When I heard about Jnana Mandir initiative, I immediately decided to volunteer for it. There was a big vacuum for this type of program in our Hindu community here in Syracuse. It has been indeed very helpful for my family particularly to the kids. Jnana Mandir includes a very comprehensive program for kids of all ages which includes Yoga, spiritual practices, learning of our languages and epics like Ramayana and celebrating our traditions from all over India. I am highly impressed with this cultural and spiritual initiative and very proud to be a part of it.
