Mundaka Upanishad

The Mundaka-upanishad is in the form of a dialogue between the renowned householder Shaunaka and the sage Angirasa. It is embedded in the Atharva veda and is a Mukhya upanishad.

This upanishad contains three Mundakams(parts), each with two sections. First Mundakam defines higher and lower knowledge. The second Mundakam expounds the nature of Brahman, the Self, the relation between the empirical world and the Brahman, and the path to know Brahman. The third Mundakam expands and asserts that the state of knowing Brahman is the ultimate liberation and bliss.
